Cast On And

This class will cover the bare-bones must-have skills to begin knitting. Students will work on a dish cloth while learning the following:

  • How to cast on with the long tail cast on

  • How to make a knit stitch

  • How to make a purl stitch

  • How to cast off

  • Terminology needed to look up these skills online or in books

  • The most useful books to have access to when learning to knit

  • What’s next? We will provide information on where to look when ready to take knitting beyond dishcloths.

Skill Level- Beginner

Time required- 3 contact hours (over one 3 hour sessions)

Price- $40.00 for the student, 20% to the LYS 80% to instructor

  • one skein of suitable cotton yarn 

  • straight or circular needles in size US 8 (5mm)

  • Notebook and pen
